I tell you what if you weren't there you missed a treat today. Really good game today and the Fish battled hard. There was a couple of times we really thought we were going to pull off the great fightback. Even the ref said after the game he thought we'd go on and do it. Really pleasing to put the frighteners on undoubtably the team to beat in the Kent League.
Anyway on to Harringey Borough, hopefully see a few more Fish make the effort for this one. ;D

Runaway Kent League leaders Faversham Town progressed into the 2nd Round of the Kent League Cup but were pushed all the way by a spirited Fisher side. Just three players who started the 1st leg were included in manager Gary Lisney’s first XI today as the gaffer gave a full debut to centre back David James and a first start to defender George Savage. Midfielder Daniel Westerman was moved up to attack due to the absence of suspended Elstrom Die and injured pair Steve O’Donnell and Wayne Grant.
The omens looked ominous for the patched up Fish early on as Town flew out of the traps looking to snuff out any possibility of an improbable Fisher fight back. Faversham had the ball in the net inside the first minute but the linesman came to Fisher’s rescue flagging offside. The away side were pinned in their own half for long spells as the hosts were found guilty of missing a glut of opportunities to take the lead. Richard Sinden was the main culprit who should have done better on more than one occasion, the forwards miserable afternoon was summed up when he was taken off on the hour mark. Town were made to pay for their continued failure to turn dominance into goals as Fisher improbably took the lead nine minutes before the break with their first real forage into enemy territory. Luis Sprosen’s neat run and perfectly weighted through ball gave Duke Benitie his first sight on goal and the back in favour forward made no mistake slotting the ball through the keeper’s legs.
In the second half Town began as they did in the first creating and missing a trio of excellent chances. Adam Lisney was forced into a terrific save on 50 minutes tipping over a long range effort which looked destined for the top corner. On 69 minutes, Faversham finally got on level terms in the game after David James failed to clear a long ball. Lisney was caught in no man’s land whether to come for the ball or not and Smissen capitalised on the hesitancy sweeping the ball home.
Fisher’s response was encouraging as they retook the lead once again after a sustained ten minute spell when the away side really took the game to their highflying hosts. Benitie was felled by the keeper and Tasser Hassan stepped up to send the custodian the wrong way from the spot.
With the away goals rule coming into effect if Fisher levelled the tie with a 3-1 score line the home side understandably were becoming increasingly nervous as Fisher continued to set about the task with their tails up. But Fisher hearts were broken on 85 minutes as Faversham scored once again. Dave Soutan’s overhead kick sealed proceedings much to the relief of the vast majority of the 152 crowd.
*Fisher FC travel to Herringey Borough on Tuesday evening for the second round of the London Senior Cup. Chairman Martin Eede said after the game; ‘The team did the club proud today. Yes, we rode our luck at times but I was really pleased we made a game of it. Gary Lisney’s got a lot to think about because quite a few of today’s side made strong cases for their inclusion in this team.’ Moving on, Eede said on Fisher’s upcoming tie in the London Senior Cup; ‘We’re all looking forward to this one, we see it as our FA Cup so we’re very keen to progress. Herringey will be a tough game, they put Erith & Belvedere out in the previous round but we should have a few back in time for Tuesday, we’ll give it another good go.’
